WEEK THIRTY-ONE - SEPTEMBER 2002
I never work this hard at the office!
Corporate taxes were due this week. So this past Saturday I got to watch Joshua all day while Cheryl did the taxes. And when I say ALL day, I mean ALL DAY. From sun up in the morning to after sun down that night, I took care of the baby. And he just so happened to pick this day of all days to be fussy and needy. I had to hold him the whole time. I got several blessed breaks when I handed him off to Cheryl so he could breastfeed. And I managed to rock him to sleep for two (way too short) naps.

When he finally went to bed that night, I was sooooooo exhausted. I told Cheryl how tired I was after taking care of the baby all day.

And you can just imagine how much sympathy I got (just about none). "What? How can you be tired? All you did today was sit around the house with the baby. I was the one who worked all day on the taxes."

It hit me that this is how Cheryl's day is, every day. And just one day of it practically killed me. I have a whole new appreciation for her.

And I can't wait to get back to the office on Monday so I can RELAX!

Squirmy baby.
It used to be that Joshua would sit quietly in our lap for hours. Now, he has to get down and explore the house. He just won't sit still. He squirms, arches his back, and twists around until we put him down. Our little guy is growing up. Soon he'll be moving out of the house!
Still loving the sling.
In the evening sometimes Joshua will be quite a fusser. Often he won't settle down even when I carry him around. He'll continue to fuss and fuss. But if I put him in the sling, he's as happy as can be. I guess he just loves the secure snuggly feeling. And it's really nice to have something that will work EVERY time.
