I've tried many diets and exercise programs, but I was 38 years old, 40 pounds overweight, and nothing was working! I thought I was doomed to suffer all the health consequences that go along with obesity. Then I let my competitive nature take over. I entered a bike race. This, of course, meant that I needed to train for that race.
Now, 2 years later, I am training almost every day, I have a challenging race schedule, and have lost those 40 pounds!
If you want to get healthy – try thinking like a professional athlete: training like one, eating like one, having a race schedule – essentially "Becoming an Athlete". This is how I lost my weight and improved my health and I invite you to do the same. We can all be "winners" even if we never make it to the podium!
