Dr. Jim's Blog

Dr. Jim's next "Let's Get Healthy" challenge: The Ironman!
It's been years since Dr. Jim has done any running or swimming.
So why is he doing this?

This has made all the difference in my health!
I've tried many diets and exercise programs, but I was 38 years old, 40 pounds overweight, and nothing was working! I thought I was doomed to suffer all the health consequences that go along with obesity. Then I let my competitive nature take over. I entered a bike race. This, of course, meant that I needed to train for that race. Now, 2 years later, I am training almost every day, I have a challenging race schedule, and have lost those 40 pounds!
If you want to get healthy – try thinking like a professional athlete: training like one, eating like one, having a race schedule – essentially "Becoming an Athlete". This is how I lost my weight and improved my health and I invite you to do the same.
We can all be "winners" even if we never make it to the podium!
