"BABY SIGN LANGUAGE"

BABY SIGN LANGUAGE
“Since “Meet the Fockers” came out, there has been increased talk about using “baby sign language” with infants with normal hearing. What do you know about this? Someone suggested to me that it is supposed to improve language and brain development.”

Still haven’t seen this movie, yet. I have it on my NetFlix list, so I should be able to enjoy it in the next few weeks. I absolutely loved Meet The Parents.

I have many patients that have taught their young ones sign language, and every one of them has been very intelligent. Genetics probably has something to do with it, since most of these parents are pretty smart themselves. With signs, these kids are able to communicate earlier. You can have a six month-old that knows 5 or 6 signs (more, food, up, owie) long before he can use any of these words. This makes communicating with parents easier. Also, it is great to know sign language when they are older. That way you can silently communicate with your kids (like in church).
