2-Y-O GOING UNDER FOR DENTAL WORK

2-Y-O "GOING UNDER" FOR DENTAL WORK
"I have a 23-month-old whose top four front teeth are decayed and need crowns, I hate the idea of putting her under to do this but want to know if this is the only option at this age?"

This is very common. If the teeth are badly decayed, and the dentist doesn’t feel that it should wait until the teeth fall out, then general anesthesia will probably be needed to get the work done. The risk of having a problem from this is very small if it’s done by a skilled PEDIATRIC anesthesiologist. It never hurts to get another dentist’s opinion before proceeding. You will either get good news that you can wait, or at least feel better that you are making the right choice to proceed.
