Ingredients:
- 2 chopped onions
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 21/2 lbs. lean ground turkey
- 4 ounces Italian turkey sausage
- 4 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamon
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- two 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
- 1-2 cans kidney beans
- 1-2 cans pinto beans
- 1 tablespoon dark molasses
- 2 cans beef broth
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 can of beer (the alcohol evaporates during cooking)
Directions:
Sauté onions and garlic. Add meat and sauté until it’s no longer pink. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer for two hours. The lengthy simmering brings out the full flavor of the spices in the chili. Makes 12 hefty servings.
